‘Caring About Equality’ for Carers Week
Carers Week 2025 ran from 9th-15th June.
Young and Adult Carers of all ages across our communities bring huge value and strength, and Carers Week is an opportunity to shine a light on some of these amazing people, many of whom provide emotional or practical support, or both, for siblings, partners, parents and children up to 24 hours a day, every day, with little to no breaks.

There are 5.8 million people in the UK caring for a family member, friend or neighbour who is ill, older or disabled. Despite contributing an estimated £184 billion to the UK economy each year, many carers feel undervalued and unsupported.
This year’s theme, ‘Caring about Equality’, focuses on highlighting the challenges and inequalities faced by unpaid carers across the UK, calling for a fairer society where they have access to greater support.
Credu (and its projects across Ceredigion, Conwy, Denbighshire, Powys and Wrexham) is inviting you to be a part of this.

Carers Week is a vital opportunity for our communities to come together and recognise the important contribution carers make to support some of the most vulnerable in our society, and raise awareness of the inequalities carers face, including a greater risk of poverty, social isolation, and poor mental and physical health.
We would love to involve you in new and exciting ways to make our communities supportive for Young and Adult Carers.

Becky Evans, Chief Enabling Officer (CEO) at Credu, said,
“Carers Week is a crucial time to highlight the invaluable contributions that carers make to the individuals they support and society as a whole. Their dedication and commitment often go unnoticed, but during this week, we celebrate and recognize their tireless efforts.
Carers ensure the well-being of those they care for, providing physical, emotional, and psychological support. Their work demands selflessness and devotion, which is truly commendable.
It is equally important to emphasize that carers deserve the same opportunities in life as anyone else. Balancing a caring role with personal aspirations is challenging, but carers should not be limited by their responsibilities. Access to education, employment, and social activities should be available to them, enabling fulfilling lives alongside their caregiving duties.
Carers Week advocates for better support systems, policies, and initiatives that empower carers, ensuring their contributions are recognized and they have the opportunity to thrive both in their caregiving role and personal lives.
This week reminds us of empathy, support, and community. It is a time to honor those who give so much of themselves for the benefit of others, and to work towards a society where their efforts are celebrated and their needs are met.
